Cavatina Singers is a four-part choir of about forty voices from Penarth in south Wales. The Choir dates from 1983, the present Director of Music is Derek Joseph Mahady and the choir's accompanist is Philip May.
The choir gives a number of concerts in the locality each year, sometimes in support of charitable causes. Occasional shorter recitals, for example singing in the foyer of the Welsh Millenium Centre and at local residential care homes at Christmas.
The repertoire is wide-ranging, from early music to modern, from sacred to secular. Recent concerts have included Tudor motets, madrigals, shorter classical works such as Haydn's Te Deum, arrangements of popular and folk songs, partsongs and sacred anthems including works by John Rutter.
Choir rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings in Albert Road Primary School in Penarth from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm during school term-time.
